A day after the game, Chelsea released a statement denouncing the reported conduct. "Following the fixture, we have received multiple reports of sectarian chanting from a small portion of those in attendance at the match," the club said. It added that any fan found responsible would be subject to severe measures, such as being banned from matches indefinitely.
