Coventry City owner Doug King has sent a clear message regarding Frank Lampard's future amidst growing speculation linking the Chelsea FC legend with a return to Stamford Bridge. Lampard, a revered figure at Chelsea FC, has achieved significant success with Coventry, prompting interest in his managerial services.

In his first full season at the helm, Frank Lampard has masterminded Coventry City's triumphant return to the Premier League. The Sky Blues secured the Championship title, ending a 25-year absence from England's top flight, a remarkable feat that has elevated Lampard's standing as a manager.

Despite this success, Lampard's contract with Coventry City has only one year remaining from the two-and-a-half-year deal he signed in November 2024. This contractual situation fuels rumors of a potential return to Chelsea FC, where he previously served as permanent head coach from 2019 to 2021 and as caretaker manager in 2023 following Graham Potter's dismissal.

Doug King, Coventry's owner, openly expressed his desire to retain Frank Lampard's services for their upcoming Premier League campaign. However, King also acknowledged the inevitable interest in Lampard, telling BBC Sport last week that he anticipated other clubs would pursue the highly-rated manager this summer.

Speaking on The Football Boardroom Podcast, King stated, "Of course, I want to keep him. Frank knows how I think of him. He is a very skilled operator, and he has taken and developed our team to the Championship title with no parachute payments." He added, "I hope he will be with us into the next adventure that we have taken in the Premier League, because I think he enjoys working in that environment."

King further praised Lampard's performance, saying, "I think he has done a great job, and I am sure as we move forward, we will have conversations about the situation." These discussions will be crucial in determining whether the Chelsea FC icon continues his journey with Coventry City or if a move back to a larger club, potentially Chelsea, materializes.
