Chelsea FC Star Tosin Adarabioyo Linked with Surprise European Move
Chelsea FC centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo, 28, has been linked with a surprise move to Portuguese Primeira Liga giants Benfica, with the Blues man also attracting interest from another unnamed Premier League club. Adarabioyo has been at Stamford Bridge since arriving on a free transfer after a stint with Fulham in 2024.
Despite being contracted to Stamford Bridge till 2028, Adarabioyo has caught the attention of Benfica, where he could reunite with his former Cottagers head coach Marco Silva, as per BBC Sport football journalist Nizaar Kinsella. The Englishman has scored seven times in 72 games across competitions for the Blues, but netted just twice in 29 outings across competitions last season, with both strikes coming in five outings in the FA Cup.
What Comes Next for Chelsea FC?
Chelsea FC have no continental football this season, having finished outside the European places last season. The Blues have concluded their pre-season with a 3-0 victory over AC Milan in Jakarta, Indonesia, and will conclude their pre-season against Real Sociedad at Stamford Bridge on Saturday (August 15) before opening their campaign for a first Premier League title in 10 years with a trip to Fulham on August 24.
Why This Matters for Chelsea FC
The interest in Adarabioyo comes as Chelsea FC look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. The Blues have been linked with several high-profile signings, but a move for Adarabioyo could be a shrewd piece of business, given his experience and quality.
Chelsea FC's Pre-Season So Far
Chelsea FC commenced their pre-season with a 6-4 victory over Western Sydney Wanderers Down Under, with Joao Pedro bagging a second-half hat-trick, before losing 2-1 to Tottenham Hotspur at the same ground three days later. New boss Xabi Alonso's side tripped again, losing 1-0 to Juventus in Hong Kong, before returning to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over AC Milan in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Blues then drew 3-3 with Malaysia Super League team Johor Darul Ta'zim at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskander Puteri, last week.
