Chelsea Eyeing Premium Price for Pedro Neto

Chelsea FC is currently considering potential bids from their Premier League rivals-Manchester City and Liverpool-regarding winger Pedro Neto’s transfer. This move comes amid speculation over high transfer fees being offered by other top European clubs.

Despite the growing interest, Chelsea insists that any deal for Neto must be proportionate to the current market values of in-demand wide attackers such as Bradley Barcola and Yan Diomande, who are reportedly valued at more than £100 million. This price tag is far beyond what was paid two years ago when Chelsea signed Pedro Neto for £54 million.

Market Trends and Player Value

Chelsea has observed the significant increase in transfer fees demanded by clubs during the current transfer window. As a result, they are keen on ensuring a fair valuation for their own player. The club notes that while Liverpool and Manchester City have expressed interest, Neto is unlikely to command such high figures.

Enzo Maresca, who previously favoured Neto as his first-choice winger at Stamford Bridge, has recently moved to Manchester City where he may once again work with the player. His potential return could bolster Chelsea's resolve in not undervaluing their asset.

Interest from teams like Liverpool and Manchester City is expected given the squad overhaul they are planning in light of Mohamed Salah’s departure. Additionally, there is speculation that clubs in Saudi Arabia also have an interest in Neto, adding to the competitive bidding scenario.

The player himself is currently on holiday after participating at the World Cup for Portugal earlier this year.

Reflections from Chelsea's Former Coach

In October, just a few weeks before his unexpected exit from Chelsea, Maresca praised Pedro Neto’s improvements and emphasized the importance of maintaining a strict work ethic due to the competitive nature of the Premier League. Maresca stated: 'He’s top, he's very humble and working hard. He's a very important player for us, and we are very happy with Pedro. He needs to be always 100 per cent because in this league, it's complicated when you drop a little bit.'
