Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen has left the pre-season tour in Australia amid speculation about his future at the club. The young Dane, who has spent the last two seasons under Robert Sanchez's wing, is reportedly seeking more regular game time.

Jorgensen's transfer interest arose following discussions with Chelsea’s management team. According to recent reports by football.london, Jorgensen informed Chelsea during a meeting that he wants to leave Stamford Bridge in search of more playing opportunities. After considering his options, the goalkeeper made his way back to London as pre-season training continued in Australia.

Strasbourg are reportedly in discussion for Jorgensen but no deal has been confirmed so far. Should a transfer materialize, it would mark one of several transfers between Chelsea and Strasbourg - clubs owned by the BlueCo group.

New Manager Alonso Eyes Young Talent

Chelsea’s new manager, former Liverpool player Xabi Alonso, is set to rely on 20-year-old goalkeeper Mike Penders for potential first-team opportunities. Penders, like Jorgensen, has only seen limited action with the senior Chelsea side but has proved his worth during spells on loan in France.

Penders spent last season impressing with Strasbourg, making 52 appearances across various competitions. His performance was notable enough to earn a call-up to the Belgium national team for this summer’s World Cup. Now back at Stamford Bridge, Penders is preparing to face competition from experienced player Robert Sanchez for the number one spot.

Penders discussed his experience of training with the first-team after the Club World Cup: “It was great to join the group and get a feel for how they operate during their rigorous five-week training camp. The staff are very friendly, making it easy to integrate into the squad.”

With Chelsea potentially lacking European football next season - which would lessen opportunities for Jorgensen to secure regular starts - Penders is well-positioned as a potential replacement.
