Chelsea forward Cole Palmer has been temporarily banned from the streaming platform Twitch after broadcasting himself playing EA Sports FC 27 before its official launch. The 24-year-old, who has started the season in strong form, was live for over an hour on Tuesday afternoon, drawing thousands of viewers to his channel.
Palmer opened Ultimate Team packs and played matches during the stream, which was cut short after an hour. The ban was enacted at the request of the game's publisher, EA Sports, whose official account commented in the stream's chat about the timing. The Chelsea number ten later responded to a social media post about the ban, liking it and commenting 'We back soon'.
Palmer's request and injury update
Speaking about the incident, Palmer said: "I was only giving the people what they wanted... Unban me pls." The forward also used the stream to provide an update on his fitness, having missed a significant portion of last season. He confirmed he is now feeling good and ready to go again after a groin injury and a fractured left toe sidelined him for two months and limited him to just three of the first dozen Premier League matches last term.
Palmer returned to action in December and has started this campaign brightly. He scored twice and provided an assist in Chelsea's 6-3 win over Leeds earlier this month and also set up João Pedro's goal in the recent 2-2 draw with Hull City. The team's current form is detailed in our stats section, which shows Palmer's attacking contributions. Chelsea currently sit sixth in the Premier League standings with seven points from four games ahead of their next match against Brentford, which is listed in our fixtures.
The club's top scorer this season is João Pedro with three goals, while Palmer's contributions remain vital as Chelsea look to close a five-point gap to leaders Arsenal. His next chance to play comes away at Brentford on Friday.
