Why it matters for Chelsea FC

Chelsea FC are in a strong bargaining position given Gusto's contract until 2030. The Blues valued Gusto at around £75million, significantly higher than the £31m they paid to sign him from Lyon.

What comes next?

Chelsea FC are close to concluding a deal to sign Marco Palestra, adding to the competition for places at right-back. The Blues are also working on a move to sign Granit Xhaka from Sunderland, but the Black Cats have rejected an £8m offer.
