Morgan Rogers continued his electric start to the season with another early goal for Chelsea FC, but the Blues were pegged back in a 2-2 draw with Hull City. The result at Stamford Bridge on Saturday leaves Chelsea fourth in the Premier League with six points from three games, three points behind leaders Manchester City.
Rogers broke the deadlock after just seven minutes, finishing off a move assisted by João Pedro. It was the young forward's third goal in his last two appearances, following his influential role in the 6-3 victory over Leeds United earlier in the week. In that match, he provided three assists alongside his own strike.
Hull hit back twice
Hull City responded strongly, with Mohamed Belloumi scoring twice before the interval to turn the game on its head. His first came in the 28th minute from a Ryan Giles cross, and he added a second six minutes later, assisted by Oliver McBurnie. The goals were the first Hull have conceded in the Premier League this season.
Chelsea restored parity in the 66th minute when João Pedro found the net, set up by Cole Palmer. The Brazilian is now the club's top scorer this season with two goals from three appearances. Despite late pressure, the Blues could not find a winner, extending their recent form to three wins, one draw and one loss from their last five outings.
Manager Enzo Maresca acknowledged the team's mixed performance. "Morgan is in a fantastic moment, but we have to be better defensively as a unit," he said after the match. "We created enough to win the game but gave away two soft goals."
The draw means Chelsea have scored eight goals but conceded seven in the league so far. They face a quick turnaround with a trip to face Brentford, who are fifth, next Friday.
