Delap in Focus
Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks with Chelsea over a deal for 23-year-old striker Liam Delap, with the transfer window closing a week on Tuesday. Delap, who left Ipswich for Chelsea, is currently out of favour at Stamford Bridge and was omitted from the squad for the Fulham match on Monday.
Forest's Transfer Ambitions
Oliver Glasner, who has implemented a three-man defence at Forest, wants two more signings before the window closes. He said the club is working hard to secure deals and is confident of adding two high-quality players. Forest already signed Ousmane Diomande, Xaver Schlager and Steven Benda this summer, paying a fee only for Diomande, who joined in a £34m deal from Sporting.
Upcoming Matches and Other News
Forest host Leeds in the Carabao Cup second round on Tuesday, a rematch of their Premier League defeat last Saturday. Morgan Gibbs-White will miss the game because of a knee problem, but Forest hope he will be available for the trip to Liverpool on Saturday. Elsewhere, Aston Villa are ramping up interest in Club Brugge defender Joel Ordóñez, while Coventry City are working on a deal to sign Brentford defender Ethan Pinnock. Sunderland have signed midfielder Jules Ahoka from Royal Antwerp for a reported £8m.
